NEWS – 20.12.2024
An old year ends, a new year begins – it’s time for us to take a look together at everything that’s happened with us in 2024 and reflect on the past 12 months!
2024 – a year in which a lot has happened with us. It would surely be easy to fill entire books with the developments, innovations, and events of this year. We’d like to highlight the most exciting moments and share them with you in this post. So sit back and join us as we take a look back at our journey and progress in 2024!
The year 2024 started for us in one way above all: with four people. This is especially noteworthy because of the people you’ll now find in our office: nine whole individuals – we don’t do things halfway. Three of our new team members joined us in March, and two more arrived just recently in December. This means a remarkable 125% growth in our team, but also five unique onboarding phases – with hopefully many more to come!
With each new team member, not only does the number of cheerful "Good Morning" faces in the office grow, but so does the space we need. We quickly realized: our office is almost bursting at the seams! Therefore, with 2024, not only does an eventful year come to an end, but also an entire chapter in our company’s history: we’re leaving our office and moving! Where to? Frankfurt? Berlin? New York? No, even better: just 50 meters down the street.
After several months, deeply immersed in the fantastic world of Silberheim, one morning we had a revelation: maybe – just maybe – it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to leave the office and Isdraia behind to venture into new terrain; an unfamiliar, almost peculiar world: “The Outside.” So, we laced up our sturdy shoes and set off on an unexpected adventure. The destination: Nanstein Castle in our adopted hometown of Landstuhl. This medieval setting from the 12th century not only inspired us in designing our fantasy world but even landed us in the local newspaper! It’s amazing what can happen when you leave the house.
We had the same thought during another of the few, yet eventful, events that took place outside our fantasy factory. How careless would it have been to wrap up 2024 without mentioning our visit to Gamescom? The experiences there, and especially the encounters with all of you, made this event something truly special!
One thing that has been crucially overlooked in our little recap so far: Silberheim! What’s going on with our fantasy world? Our book? Our game? After all, this is probably what interests you much more than bursting office spaces and irregular hiking days. The answer is as simple as it is complex: Quite a lot!
Let’s start with the foundation of our world: our novel Daemonion. It received a remaster last year and is now even more eager to be read by you! But even beyond the already established stories, a lot has been happening. To provide you with a coherent and exciting fantasy world, we’ve had numerous meetings around the topic of lore. Concept art wasn’t left out either – especially the city of Bruck was hotly debated and sketched, and – small spoiler – it will be one of the main locations in the second book of our novel.
This brings us to the next area: art. This year, we had the great honor of collaborating with 16 talented artists, and we’ve had the pleasure of admiring dozens of breathtaking artworks created by them. A selected few of these can, of course, be found on our Instagram account.
And what’s going on with our Evolving Card Game Silberheim? Promising! Especially visually, the game has made tremendous progress. What just a few months ago looked like an experimental DIY project now leaves no doubt that a truly functional game is being created here. It won’t be long before you can check it out with your own eyes. In addition, our coding team deserves a big round of applause for the newly developed tools, which have significantly eased the management of our card database.
Finally, one last mention this year of our rebranding: What was once Dystopia is now Silberheim – and it’s even officially trademarked now! We’ve already explained how the rebranding came about in another article, so feel free to check it out.
2024 was a year like no other – but the coming year will bring just as many unique surprises, adventures, challenges, and developments for both us and you. We’re excited to continue this journey with you.
What awaits you in the new year, we don’t want to spoil too much just yet. However, one small change is already set – aside from our move: Our marketing department is undergoing a reorganization, which means you (whether you like it or not) will get to know me, the author of this text.
With that said – warmest Christmas greetings from the depths of the Palatinate Forest!
